Food & Coffee on Bowen Island
Bowen has enough places to eat well without needing to plan every meal before you arrive. Most of the restaurants and cafés are around Snug Cove, with a few useful stops farther across the island.
These are a few places that make sense during a stay at Wildwood.
Coffee before you do anything else
The Snug Cafe is right in Snug Cove, close to the ferry.
It opens early, serves coffee and breakfast, and works well as a first stop when you arrive or somewhere to wait before sailing home. Its current hours start as early as 5:45 a.m. on weekdays.
Good for:
Coffee, breakfast, ferry mornings.
Breakfast or lunch: Artisan Eats
Artisan Eats Café & Fine Foods is up in Artisan Square.
It is more of a sit-down daytime stop, with pastries, breakfast, sandwiches, soups, and lunch.
Go here when coffee is not enough and you actually want to sit down for a while.
Good for:
Breakfast, brunch, lunch, pastries.
Dinner: Barcelona or Tuscany
If you want dinner out, two good options are in Snug Cove.
Barcelona Tapas & Wine Bar is a small Spanish restaurant built around tapas and shared plates. Seating is limited, so reservations are a good idea.
Tuscany Restaurant is an Italian trattoria and pizzeria, also close to the ferry. It works well for a casual dinner, pizza, or takeout to bring back to Wildwood. Tuscany currently serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday and recommends reservations because the space is small.
Good for:
Dinner in the Cove, date night, pizza, shared plates, or takeout.
A stop near Wildwood:
Bowen Cider House
Bowen Cider House is a family-run cidery on a working farm, not far from Wildwood.
The focus is cider, but they also serve food at the tasting room and run food-focused events at different times. Their current event schedule includes things like Sunday dinners, food and drink specials, and Ploughman’s boards, so it is worth checking what is happening when you are there.
Go for a cider tasting, sit outside, and see what food is on that day.
Good for:
Cider tasting, an afternoon stop, and occasional food without heading back into Snug Cove.
Should you book restaurants ahead?
For dinner, it can help.
Bowen has a small number of restaurants and relatively small dining rooms. Summer weekends and holidays can fill up, and opening days can change with the season.
Check current hours before making the trip.
That matters even more if there is one place you specifically want to try.
